Home House Rules Character Creation

Latest Update

Forums and Player Menu
After a couple of days of testing, I've now introduced a forums part and a new Player Menu. I've also updated the House Rules section with information on Feats and Skills, and my campaign now approaches 3.5 rules. All user accounts have also been enabled again.

The forums contain an open section where anyone can view posts and all registered users can submit new posts, and a player section where only registered players can view and post new content. The player menu is only available to registered players (obviously) and gives them game information from each session, npcs encountered and places of interest.

House rules for creating characters in the Felangor campaign.

Ability Scores Generation
Roll 4d6 six times, discarding the lowest die each time. Once during this process, the player can reroll the lowest die instead and then discard lowest. Scores can be arranged as desired.

If no score is above 13 or if the total ability score modifiers are 0 or less the player can choose to scratch the result and repeat the entire process.

Races
All standard PHB races are available in Felangor, but players should note the following before choosing a race:

Humans are the predominant race and is found in all regions of Felangor.

Dwarves are fairly common and although some people still haven't forgotten the war they are generally accepted most places.

Elves and half-elves are less common but are generally treated with great respect by their human neighbors.

Halflings are common in some areas and almost non-existent in other areas, and are for the most part treated well with the exception of the odd joke.

Gnomes are really rare in Felangor, but would probably fit in just fine in areas with dwarves and halflings.

Half-orcs will have a really hard time in any civilzed settlements and players must be prepared for crowds of villagers with pitchforks and torches.

Classes
All standard classes found in the Player's Handbook (with some modifications, see below) are available and multi-class characters are welcome.

The barbarian class has some minor changes to special abilities and their progress rate.

The ranger class is modified to be more like the v3.5 version as the 3rd edition ranger is a truly boring character in comparison.

Info on other classes coming soon.

Skills
Some modifications to old skills, and a few new skills have been added. Details coming soon.

Feats
Many new feats (mostly from 3.5 ruleset) and some modified. Check out the full list here.

All characters with a good background story also receives a bonus feat from the following list, picked by the DM based on character background: Acrobatic, Agile, Alertness, Animal Affinity, Athletic, Deceitful, Deft Hands, Diligent, Investigator, Magical Aptitude, Negotiator, Nimble Fingers, Persuasive, Self Sufficient, Stealthy.

If the player cannot be bothered to write a decent background for their character, no bonus feat is given.

Starting Gear
Availability and the price of armor, weapons and other gear varies with the starting location and all purchases must be approved by the DM. Starting gold is not based on a dice roll, but rather at the DMs discretion and is based on the background story of the character.
